After receiving his Masters in chemistry from UBA, Argentina, Godofredo Follmer joined the industry. Soon thereafter he moved to Germany to study for a PhD on the topic of  heterogenous catalysts in the conversion of methane to olefins (oxidative coupling of methane) at the Institute of Technical Chemistry from Ruhr Universität Bochum in Germany. He joined BASF as Pilot Plant Manager becoming a Deputy Plant Manager after one year. Transferring R&D results from the laboratory into the pilot plant and then to the production plant were key topics. These also included training of teams, production planning, cost control, start-up of new plants in Germany and Thailand, execution of investment projects and revenue targets were the main responsibility. In the interim, Godofredo was promoted to the position of Plant Manager. The next position was Business Development Manager in the Licensing Department of BASF. This job opened the way to international sales and cultural diversity. Interaction with engineering companies and regional sales people expanded the job scope further. At the next level with a BASF subsidiary and a broader role in sales and licensing he negotiated a joint venture with a Saudi partner for an operation in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia and participated in the divestment of part of the company to ABB. In the new environment he took over the responsibility for a technology business including Sales, R&D, Engineering and Project Execution, Catalysts, Business Growth, After-Sales Services and P/L for the operations that were run under different legal entities and since 2007 is registered in Germany. He has negotiated technology cooperation agreements with third parties to benefit from the combination of individual strengths, promoted vendor qualifications and income sharing and developed partnerships involving joint multimillion investments. 

He has more than 30 years of experience in the chemical/petrochemical industry with domestic and international assignments in technology development, plant operations, sales and general management.
