Since 2021 Håkan serves as the President and CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation. Wärtsilä is a global leader in innovative technologies and life cycle solutions for the marine and energy industries with EUR ~6 bn in sales and 17.500 employees located in 70+ countries.

With a strong focus on innovation in sustainable technology and services, the Wärtsilä strategy is centred on helping customers to continuously improve environmental and economic performance and shaping the decarbonisation of marine and energy industries.

Håkan joined Wärtsilä from the Volvo Group where he was the President of Volvo Buses and member of the Volvo Group Management. In his earlier career Håkan held senior leadership positions with ABB and Bombardier in the fields of power systems, robotics, and industrial automation. He has extensive international experience, having worked and lived in the U.S., Canada, Thailand, Brazil, Switzerland, Sweden and now Finland.

Håkan holds an MSc in Engineering Physics from the Lund Institute of Technology, Sweden paralleled with a BSc in Business Administration at the University of Lund, Sweden. He also holds an MBA from IMD, Switzerland.
