Carlos Yum has more than 27 Years of experience on the Electricity Supply Industry and appointed, in Jully 2020, by Government of Mozambique to lead the development and structuring of Mphanda Nkuwa Project with an estimated 1500 MW installed capacity and associated high voltage transmission infrastructure, with an estimated investment of 4,5 bUSD, through the Mphanda Nkuwa Development Unit (GMNK).

Prior to this appointment, from 2016 to 2020, Carlos Yum was the Chief Operating Officer for Electricidade de Moçambique E.P. (EDM), responsible for the portfolio of Business Development, Corporate Performance, Planning and Strategy Directorate, Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Commercialization, including System and Market Operator. During this period he led and coordinated IPP generation transactions and transmission investments of more than 4 bUSD.

From October 2014 to August 2015, he was an Executive Board Member with responsibility for the portfolio of Electrification and Projects Directorate, System Planning, Market Operator, Business Development and Corporate Performance Unit.

Carlos Yum holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of Eduardo Mondlane University, and various certificates in energy regulation, markets and tariff structuring, Advance Management Courses, Structuring of Investments in Project Finance, and Leadership.
