The trading of liquefied natural gas (LNG) has become a critical component of the global energy market, as the demand for cleaner-burning fossil fuels continues to rise. However, the production, transportation, and regasification of LNG are associated with significant greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which are contributing to the adverse impacts of climate change. In order to reduce the environmental footprint of the LNG industry and support the transition to a low-carbon future, it is essential to optimise emissions in LNG trading.
